Jinzhou Medical University (JZMU)

Jinzhou Medical University (JZMU), established in 1946 during the Liberation War as the Liaoji Military Region Health School in Taonan, Jilin Province, relocated to Jinzhou, Liaoning Province in 1949. It became Jinzhou Medical College in 1958, was renamed Liaoning Medical College in 2006, and took on its current name in 2016. The university spans an area of 994,987.60 square meters.

JZMU is a provincial higher education institution specializing in medicine, offering General Higher Education, Continuing Education, and International Education. It provides 27 undergraduate programs across six main disciplines: medicine, engineering, agriculture, science, management, and education, along with 8 A-level and 59 B-level postgraduate programs. The university aims to enhance international collaboration and is committed to developing talent with a global perspective.

The university boasts 3 national-level talents, a National Famous Teacher Award winner, 4 members of the Ministry of Education’s Teaching Steering Committee, a candidate for the New Century National Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talent Project, and 23 recipients of Special Government Allowances from the State Council. Additionally, there are 3 distinguished experts in Liaoning Province, 4 candidates for the Liaoning Provincial Higher Education Climbing Scholars Support Program, 16 Liaoning Provincial Famous Teacher Award winners, and 6 provincial teaching teams.

Currently, JZMU features 2 national first-class undergraduate programs, 1 national characteristic program, 1 national comprehensive reform pilot program, along with several provincial first-class construction sites, reform pilot programs, and demonstration programs. The university also has 14 provincial Excellent Courses, 7 resource-sharing courses, and multiple experimental teaching demonstration centers.

Approved by Liaoning Province, JZMU is developing 2 major science and technology platforms, 13 key laboratories, and several research centers dedicated to clinical medicine and innovation.

With over 12,000 full-time students from 31 provinces and regions, JZMU has been recognized by the Ministry of Education for its English-taught MBBS program and for accepting Chinese Government Scholarship students. The university is engaged in the Belt and Road initiative, recruiting students from 62 countries.

JZMU operates 129 practical teaching bases, including 3 directly affiliated hospitals, contributing significantly to regional health services. During the COVID-19 crisis, medical teams from its affiliated hospitals provided critical support in Wuhan and Dalian, earning recognition from various media outlets and commendations from the State Council.
